About Batch and Bubble

Hi, I’m Neets — and I started making my own personal care products because everything I bought either annoyed me, came in unnecessary plastic, or simply didn’t work.

I’m based in Brisbane, and like a lot of people with oily hair and a low tolerance for fragrance, I’d spent years cycling through products that were either too harsh, too heavily scented, or doing things to my scalp I didn’t love. The ingredient lists read like chemistry homework — pages long, heavy on surfactants like SLS that stripped my hair flat by lunchtime, and packaged in plastic I couldn’t justify.

So I started making my own.

My background is in Applied Science — I studied Plant Biotechnology at university, which was a long time ago and a different career path entirely. I never worked as a scientist. But something from those years stuck: the habit of asking why something works before trusting that it does, and a fairly low threshold for being satisfied with “it worked once.”

That instinct is what Batch and Bubble runs on.

Every recipe here uses plant-derived surfactants — no lye, no sodium hydroxide, nothing that requires a hazmat setup in your kitchen. My formulations tend toward fewer total ingredients and minimal added fragrance, partly by design and partly because that’s what actually works for my hair and skin. Short ingredient lists are easier to troubleshoot, easier to patch test, and easier to trust.

My QA process is unglamorous but honest: everything sits for its minimum cure time before I evaluate it, and I test on myself before it goes anywhere near my family. If I wouldn’t hand it to my kids, it doesn’t get published. If it works for three weeks and then doesn’t, I say so.

I’m not a cosmetic chemist, and I won’t pretend otherwise. What I am is someone who has tested these formulations in a real Brisbane home, on real hair, in real humidity — and documented what actually happened. That’s the standard everything on this site is held to.
